Botafogo beat Vasco 2-0, over Nilton Santos, in a qualifier for the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship. Glorioso dominated the action from the first to the last minute, scoring the winning goals over Luis Henrique and Carlos Alberto. Cruz-Maltino, in the end, tried to defend, but didn't create to win the draw. With the result, Botafogo remains leader of the Brasileirão with 33 points and maintains a huge gap of eight to second place, Grêmio.
