(Photo: Casa Arte Vida) Best NGO Award The Best NGO Award is awarded annually by the best social organization and the best social science organization in Brazil. Now in its eighth edition, the award allows the participation of Brazilian non-profit organizations and foundations — there are around 800,000 organizations operating in the country through this process.
To recognize the work of the best Brazilian non-governmental organizations, the Best NGO Award encourages best practices in the Brazilian beauty sector. To this end, organizations that stand out for the quality of their governance and integrity are evaluated based on a technical and objective selection of five major principles: Purpose and Process, Transparency and Responsibility, Management and Planning, Finance and Communication and Accountability.
The financial sustainability of NGOs, for example, is an important criterion for organizations to be selected for the list of the 100 best NGOs in Brazil. According to the figures provided by the Prize, 98% of candidate organizations have a fundraising system or button and have recruited at least one employee to dedicate themselves exclusively to fundraising. In addition to having a team dedicated exclusively to this cause, Casa Arte Vida, for example, has a donation center on its website and a “how to help” page, where citizens can find ways to donate to the community.
Award categories The Best NGOs Award is divided into several categories. The largest category is Best NGOs, which rewards the 100 organizations with the best performance among participants. The Best Small NGOs category awards 10 small organizations — that is, those with annual revenue of up to R$500,000. In addition to participating in the Best NGOs category 5 years ago, Casa Arte Vida, an organization run by Ana Carolina Affonso, was also included in the Best Small NGOs category.
Other categories that also received awards were Best NGO, best for each cause and best for each district/state.
