(Photo: Casa Arte Vida) Best NGO Award The Best NGO Award is awarded annually by the social certification Instituto Doar and Instituto O Mundo Que Quero to evaluate the best NGOs in Brazil. Currently in its eighth edition, the award allows free participation by non-profit associations and foundations in Brazil – around 800,000 entities in the country operate in this model.
By recognizing the work of the best non-governmental institutions in Brazil, the Best NGOs Award encourages the best practices in the Brazilian third sector. To this end, organizations that stand out for the quality and transparency of their management are evaluated based on a technical and objective selection of five main themes: Cause and Action Strategy, Representation and Responsibility, Management and Planning, Financing Strategy and Communication and Reporting .
For example, the financial sustainability of NGOs is an important evaluation criterion for organizations selected for the list of the 100 best NGOs in Brazil. According to data released by the awards, 98% of the organizations that stood out have a system or button for collecting donations and have hired at least one employee to dedicate themselves exclusively to fundraising activities. In addition to having an employee dedicated exclusively to this cause, for example, Casa Arte Vida has a donation button on its website and a “how to help” page where citizens can find ways to contribute to the organization.
Award Categories The Best NGO Award is divided into several categories. The broadest category is Best NGOs, which honors the 100 best organizations among participants. The Best Small Non-Governmental Organizations category honors up to 10 small organizations, that is, those with annual revenues of up to US$500,000. In addition to being part of the category of the best NGOs of the last 5 years, Casa Arte Vida, an organization managed by Ana Carolina Affonso, also joined the group of the best small NGOs.
Other categories that will also be awarded are Best NGO, Best for any Cause and Best for any Region/State.
