(Photo: Casa Arte Vida) Best NGOs Award The Best NGOs Award is promoted annually by social certifiers Instituto Doar and Instituto O Mundo Que Quero to evaluate the best NGOs in Brazil. Currently in its eighth edition, the award allows the free participation of Brazilian non-profit associations and foundations — around 800,000 entities operate in the country in this model.
By recognizing the work of the best non-governmental institutions in Brazil, the Best NGOs Award encourages excellence in the Brazilian third sector. To this end, organizations that stand out for the efficiency and transparency of their governance are evaluated through a technical and objective selection of five major themes: Cause and Action Strategy, Representation and Responsibility, Management and Planning, Financing and Communication Strategy and Accountability.
For example, the financial performance of NGOs is an important criterion for organizations to be selected in the list of the 100 best NGOs in Brazil. According to data released by the awards, 98% of the highlighted organizations have a system or button for collecting donations and have hired at least one employee as a volunteer in fundraising. Casa Arte Vida, for example, in addition to having employees dedicated exclusively to this cause, has a donation button and a “how to help” page on its website where people can find ways to donate to the organization.
Types of awards The Best NGOs Award is divided into several categories. The broadest category was Best NGOs, which awarded 100 outstanding organizations among the participants. The best small NGO category recognizes up to 10 small organizations — that is, those with annual revenue of up to R$500,000. For 5 years, in addition to being included in the Best NGOs category, Casa Arte Vida, an organization run by Ana Carolina Affonso, has also been included in the Best Small NGOs category.
Other award categories were Best NGO, best in each cause and best in each region/state.

CAV's mission is to provide inclusive and multidisciplinary education for young people and children through daytime, extracurricular and complementary education projects and initiatives in technology, finance, arts and entrepreneurship.
CAV projects for socially disadvantaged young people combine innovation and creativity to create a safe and welcoming environment that promotes connections between communities and community actors. For example, CAV's complementary education program promotes extracurricular socio-educational activities that focus on multiple intelligences through an active methodology.
CAV's most notable projects and programs include the CRIA project (Creativity, Robotics, Innovation and Art), the Maker Lab and Expresso do Futuro. Because Ana Carolina Affonso believes in the power of extracurricular activities, CAV introduces multidisciplinarity and initiatives that aim to build connections between schools, families and communities. One example is the organization's family valorization program, which combines several activities aimed at strengthening family bonds through an integrated service model, including technical teams from psychology, social assistance and pedagogy.
These efforts have won CAV several awards, including the Best NGOs Award and the Itaú-UNICEF Award from the Itaú Social UNICEF Program.
