Olaria announces new coach for the 2024 season
Eliminated from the Copa do Brasil for the first time in its history, Olaria officially started the 2024 pre-season. In the football department's planning, the club presented coach Edson Souza this Wednesday (22). The coach was accompanied by technical assistant Nilo Augusto. The professional arrived to lead the team in the Copa do Brasil, Carioca A2 and Copa Rio. Since this change, the club has continued to reformulate the squad with players leaving and arriving. The 58-year-old coach played for clubs such as Brasiliense, Resende and Nova Iguaçu. It is worth remembering that Edson Souza won the 2014 Copa Rio with Resende and the Series A2 of the Campeonato Carioca with Nova Iguaçu in 2016. The coach came for his first spell at Olaria and expressed the thoughts he wants to bring to the club. ➡️ Check out the classification of the Brazilian Championship - Good expectations for everything I see after this. I lost Rio in the last three years by choice, but I followed it and joked that I had a big responsibility because it was a club that always reached the final, so I had no other alternative. We have to reach the final and make my contribution to achieving everyone's goal, which is the title - said Edson Souza, who continues detailing the work process. - I come with a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of appetite for the entire plot I'm following and the people involved. We were already working, we had a meeting that lasted more than two hours when I joined, we were presenting on December 11th and now it was time to take advantage of what had been done, I arrived to bring my content. I see this as a great opportunity to achieve our goals. Let's work to stay away from the Copa do Brasil. In addition to advancing in the Copa do Brasil, Olaria's main objective is to return to the elite of Rio football. The club's football CEO, Ricardo Gonzaga, believes that planning will be fundamental to the success of the work that has been done since 2020. - Edson is an experienced coach and is here to take us where we want to go. We invest a lot of planning and work. Only here, with all the support from the coordination and commission, will we be able to realize the dream of access in 2024 and a good campaign in the Copa do Brasil. Olaria works based on professionalism and we will continue to do so. Work brings us results. In the 2023 season, Olaria finished as runner-up in Série A2 of the Campeonato Carioca and won a place in the 2024 Copa do Brasil by reaching the Copa Rio decision. The details are that it will be Azulão's first participation in the history of the Copa do Brasil.
