The result of the collaboration will be a new slot machine inspired by one of the platform's most successful series: the charming South Korean survival drama known as “Round 6” or “Squid Game”.This product and brand licensing deal is a first, marking Netflix's foray into entirely new territory. The company responsible for manufacturing the “Round 6” machine is the famous Light & Wonder known for its expertise in the games industry. These machines will take players into the intriguing world of deadly challenges reminiscent of the original series.
Expected to hit casinos in 2024, the “Round 6” slot promises an exciting experience, with prizes ranging from US$200,000 to US$400,000 depending on the configuration. Light & Wonder's machines are true technological marvels, boasting 75-inch vertically curved screens with 600,000 individual micro-LED pixels. They also offer a 27-inch touchscreen with induction cell phone charging and action buttons to interact with games, providing an immersive experience for players.
Not only is Netflix getting into casinos, but it has also released a trailer for a reality show based on the riveting South Korean drama. The reality show intends to reward the winner with an impressive US$4.56 million (equivalent to R$22.47 million) from a group of 456 contestants.
It is worth noting that just like in the “Round 6” series, participants compete for cash prizes. But the difference is that, on a reality show, the stakes are a little less deadly and bloody. As Netflix says: “The worst thing is going home empty-handed.”
According to the statement, the reality show will have a total of 10 episodes, one more than the original series that served as inspiration. Participants will face a series of physical and mental challenges, resulting in an exciting atmosphere full of twists and turns.
Additionally, as for the drama series, Netflix confirmed its renewal for a second season in June last year, ensuring that fans will receive a greater dose of suspense and action to enjoy in the future.
