Microsoft announced Microsoft Edge Game Assist as the first gaming browser that provides browser access on PCs and mobile devices. Still in testing, this is a variation of the version of Microsoft Edge available for Windows 11.The tool creates a kind of browser layer that overlays the games. The idea arose from the fact that 88% of gamers already use a browser while playing to, for example, get help, track their progress or even listen to music or chat with friends, according to the company.
From Baldur’s Gate 3 to League of Legends: Microsoft Edge Game Assist works in some games It is now possible to test the Microsoft browser in the following games:
Baldur's Gate 3; Devil IV; Fifteen days; Hellblade II: Senua's Saga; League of Legends; Minecraft; Surveillance 2; Roblox; Valorant. The list will be expanded during testing, according to Microsoft. Check out the browser demo below:
The feature shares computer browser data, such as history, cookies and form filling. In practice, this makes logging into websites easier, for example. It also speeds up services like Discord, Twitch and Spotify.
How to use Edge's Game Assist (Image: Wongsakorn Napaeng/iStock) Game Assist is available on Windows 11 with Microsoft Edge Beta 132. You can access it from the game bar (Win + G). The user can pin the feature above the game to consult a guide or watch a video while playing.
Game Bar allows gamers to use widgets like Xbox Social to connect with friends and track their in-game achievements, as well as save screenshots and clips, adjust audio settings, and monitor system performance.
It is worth paying attention to the following points:
Make sure Windows 11 and Game Bar are up to date; Game Assist requires the Microsoft Edge Beta or Preview channel. If you're running Windows Insider Updates on your PC or opted for Edge Preview, you already have Edge Preview and can skip to step 3. Otherwise: Install the Microsoft Edge Insider Beta channel (you can also use the Dev channel to get o latest updates, but may be a little less stable); Set Edge Beta as your default browser (go to Windows Settings > Apps > Default apps, search for Edge, and at the top of the page, click Edge Beta > Set as default); To enable Game Assist (preview) and install the Game Assist widget, in Edge, go to Settings and more (“…”) > Settings, look for Game Assist in the search box, find the Game Assist option (above the zoom setting from the page) and select Install widget; If you've never used Edge Beta/Preview before, in Edge, go to Settings and more (“…”) > Close Microsoft Edge and reopen the browser. You may need to repeat this step a few times for the Game Assist option to appear. You can now use Game Assist by opening Game Bar with Win+G. Read more:

The Game Assist widget closes automatically after a period of inactivity; Open tabs are restored when Game Assist is reopened, but previous browsing history is still not retained; You cannot right-click links, images or pages; Some keyboard shortcuts are not yet supported.
