Argentina beat Canada, but not by much
In this Copa América debut, Argentina could have scored 2 goals, but despite that, the North Americans managed to maintain a good pace of play. This shows that Argentina's mechanism is not yet fully adjusted and, unless they face Canada, this could change against more prepared teams.
However, Canada has shown that it has the capacity to compete in the Copa América and, in fact, should be among the 10 best teams in the Copa América according to bookmakers. Of course, these are still 88.00 odds, but we'll see how things change depending on how the groups evolve.
Argentina remains the main favorite, with odds of 2.70 to win the tournament according to the consensus of all bookmakers. As for first place in Group A, Argentina's victory looks almost certain at odds of 1.20 to 1.50.
Status of two groups
As we mentioned above, Argentina are the favorites in Group A, but we have to watch Chile vs Peru. Eighth and tenth in the South American qualifying table, Chile and Peru could represent the weakest teams in the tournament. The scheduled Group A game remains tied, with Peru at 3.50 and Chile at 2.25. The difference doesn't seem big, but the chances of these two teams making it past the round of 16 are slim.
Group B has the most exciting and balanced teams, and any of them can beat the others. In addition to Jamaica, Venezuela, Ecuador and Mexico represent the best in this edition of the Copa América. All eyes are, of course, on Mexico, but we cannot forget their terrible performance in the last World Cup. The odds of winning the groups are led by Mexico at 2.10, followed by Ecuador at 2.50.
Group C seems to be the most predictable, with teams far apart in terms of power. Uruguay seems to be the most prepared for this type of tournament, although the USA can at least reach the quarterfinals. On the other hand, Bolivia and Panama are completely unsuitable for all bookmakers. A group victory for Uruguay costs R$1.70 and the United States costs R$2.30.
Finally, in Group D there should be no doubts about their strength and performance on the field: Brazil should dominate any opponent.
Colombia could be the only one to achieve this, as Brazil still has a lot to prove, mainly due to the absence of Neymar and the appointment of a new coach. In any case, today Brazil's rating is registered at 1.40, while Colombia is a little further away, at 3.70. Paraguay at 12pm and Costa Rica at 6pm are almost impossible to advance.
