Argentina beats Canada, but not by much
In this first Copa América tournament, Argentina managed to score 2 goals, but despite this, the North Americans managed to maintain a good pace of play. This suggests that the Argentine toolkit still needs to be improved and, if the challenges are not addressed in Canada, this could change in favor of more prepared teams.
However, Canada has shown that it can compete in the Copa América and, in fact, for the bookmakers, it deserves a place in the top 10 teams currently tipped to win the Copa América. Of course, the odds remain at 88.00, but depending on the team's evolution we will see how the situation changes.
Argentina remains the main favorite, with odds of 2.70 to win the tournament, according to all bookmakers. In the first group A, Argentina's victory seems almost certain, with odds ranging from 1.20 to 1.50.
The situation in the groups
As already mentioned, in Group A the favorite is Argentina, but we still have to watch the clash between Chile and Peru. Chile and Peru, eighth and tenth respectively in the South American qualifying table, represent perhaps some of the weakest teams in this tournament. The group A game calendar still looks balanced, with Peru's odds of winning at 3.50 and Chile's at 2.25. The difference doesn't seem to be big, but the chances of these two teams advancing beyond the round of 16 are very small.
Group B seems to be the most interesting, with balanced teams, each possibly capable of beating the others. In addition to Jamaica, Venezuela, Ecuador and Mexico represent the best in this edition of the Copa América. All eyes, naturally, are on Mexico, but we cannot forget their excellent performance in the world finals. The odds of winning the categories lead Mexico with 2.10, followed closely by Ecuador, with 2.50.
Group C seems to be the most predictable, with groups far apart in terms of strength. Uruguay seems to be the most prepared to face this type of competition, although the United States has a good chance of reaching at least the quarterfinals. But for Bolivia and Panama, not all bookmakers are playing. A Uruguay win in the group is valued at 1.70, with the United States close behind at 2.30.
Finally, in group D there should be no doubts regarding strength and performance on the field: Brazil must dominate all opponents.
Only Colombia can do it, thanks to Brazil who still have a lot to prove, especially with the absence of Neymar and the appointment of a new coach. In any case, Brazil's rating is now undoubtedly 1.40, while Colombia is a little further away at 3.70. Almost no chance of improvement for Paraguay, which was at 12pm, and for Costa Rica, at 6pm.
