On a record night for Gabigol, Flamengo fights hard, but draws with Racing at El Cilindro
There is no shortage of competition from Flamengo at the El Cilindro Stadium this weekend (4). But thanks to Gabigol's opening goal (which marked his 30th goal in the Copa Libertadores), the team drew 1-1 with Racing at the El CIlindro Stadium for the third time this year. Oroz scored the goal for Avellaneda's team. The result places La Academia at the top of Group A, with seven points. The Rubro-Negros are four points ahead of second place. Check out the Copa Libertadores poster! CONCLUSIONS The main battle took place in Avellaneda. Romero and Guerrero's shots hit the post, but were hampered by the red and yellow goals. Luckily for him, Mura found Romero in the corner. The 15-year-old tried to pass Santos, but had no control and sent it over the crossbar. The Rubro-Negros had the chance when the ball passed through the feet of Everton Ribeiro. There were 7 goals from Ayrton Lucas, who sent the ball out of bounds. The striker fouled Ayrton Lucas in the 24th minute and received a red card. And a minute later, he fired another shot into the back of the net and finished. INCISIVE, RUBRO-NEGRO WITNESS HISTORIC GOAL Racing tried to gain momentum when Oroz took a free kick and Santos did his best to save. However, the Rubro-Negros were looking for a shortcut to advance. Pedro called twice, but missed the chance. Then, Ayrton Lucas came free on the right and crossed. Pulgar leaned in to finish, but couldn't reach him. During his long journey, Pulgar met Gabigol in the area. Edition 10, no errors, he sent. After a tough battle, Flamengo took the lead for the last time in extra time. In a counterattack, Erick Pulgar found Gabigol at the scene. He finished, even standing up, falling behind at 47. It was Gabigol's 30th career goal. The striker is the Brazilian who scored the most goals in the Copa Libertadores, surpassing Luizão, who has 29. VAR IN ACTION AND HOME TEAM TRIES TO REACTION Coming back from the break, Flamengo was shocked by Racing's siege. Everton's Ribeiro easily overtook Santos, but the goalkeeper refused to let his opponent pass. Matías Rojas and Romero advanced and defended the Red and Blacks. After that, the team asked for a penalty for Wesley's touch. The referee listened to the VAR and ordered it to go ahead. GOAL, RACE EQUALS SCORE The panorama of the game changed after 25 minutes. Desperately, Wesley hit Reniero close to the spot. The right-back, who had previously received a yellow card, was sent off. But the change comes at a high price for the Rubro-Negros. Oroz was excellent when it came to taking control, leaving Santos there. Unfortunately, Fernando Gago's team quickly changed their minds. Fabrício Bruno held back when trying to retreat and opened the way for Saladierre. The 39-year-old advanced and found Santos, but the ball stopped on the touchline. TENSION, REQUEST FOR PENALTY, BUT THE DRAWING PERSISTS Sampaoli played Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique and Everton Cebolinha across the field, but Flamengo had difficulty establishing itself. The team's best move came from a cross from Arrascaeta. Léo Pereira didn't enter in time, but Thiago Maia hit the target. The last few hours were spent talking. Saladierre tried to disarm Santos and fell and asked for a penalty, but the referee allowed him to leave. Flamengo tried to fight back with Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique, but was denied. Flamengo left Argentina with just one point, but it was difficult.
