How a team company from São Paulo has helped young athletes who are unable to become professionals
Reference FC stands out as a company club. In recent months, the team has exchanged several young players for major Brazilian clubs such as Santos, São Paulo, Cruzeiro and others. However, it is not always possible to guarantee the completion of these deals, which is why a new partnership was sealed, this time with 2SV Sports, a leading company in sports exchange through football operating in the market since 2005, an exchange of students and young athletes. “Now, with the partnership closed, we can present the company to the athletes’ parents and learn more about how universities work, with some athletes tending to start classes in August,†observes Walter Junior, president of Reference. Today, 186 athletes participated in the under 11, under 12, under 13, under 14, under 15 and under 17 categories. On average, only 1.5% of young players around the world manage to become professionals – considering the 6,000 hours work required to obtain a professional education. Although the partnership is new for the club, it is not the first time that Reference has taken athletes abroad. Some players who graduated from the U17 program last year and were not recruited by any other club attended universities in the United States. - It's a way of evaluating the athlete who was with us throughout the training - emphasizes the president.
