CBF x Galera.bet: entity may lose appeal and will have to pay a fine for sponsorship
The case between CBF and Galera.bet, involving breach of an exclusivity clause, gained a new chapter this Friday. After a favorable ruling for the bookmaker sponsoring the Brasileirão, the entity filed an appeal to annul the decision and obtained yet another defeat in court. Related Lance! The commercial agreement with Galera.bet, signed in April 2022, involves the payment of US$3.3 million (around R$16 million, at the current exchange rate) over three years. There is no pre-determined penalty in case of unilateral termination of the contract, but the entity will have to pay an amount of compensation to the betting site. When contacted by the report, the CBF did not comment. At the time, the tournament's official pieces bore the brands of three competing companies: Betano, Betnacional and 1xBET. The incident was repeated at the beginning of the fifth round, but was resolved in an “improvised” way. In the match between Santos and Bahia, for example, Galera.bet's rival brands appeared in the background of pre-game interviews, but were no longer present in post-game interviews (see images below). In the other matches of the round, the “improvisation” was repeated: competing brands were removed at the last minute, leaving holes in the interview scenarios and entrance gates.
