Brazilian clubs that target Zalazar had good numbers in the last Bundesliga
With the opening of the transfer window, Brazilian football began the search for reinforcements. And one of the names that has caught the attention of some Serie A clubs is midfielder Rodrigo Zalazar, 23 years old, from Schalke 04, in Germany. Vasco and São Paulo have already expressed interest in the player, but Santos is now trying to sign him. Despite being Uruguayan, Zalazar began his professional career in Spain, playing for Málaga. In 2019 he was traded to Eintracht Frankfurt, beginning his career in German football. Young and with limited space, he ended up loaned to Korona Kielce, in Poland, and then to Saint Petersburg. Pauli, in Germany, where he began to gain fame in the 2020/2021 season, playing in the second division. Transferred to Schalke the following year, he was instrumental in the campaign that returned the club to national football status. The midfielder scored six goals and provided five assists in 30 games, 25 as a starter. In 2022/2023, it was not a great season for Schalke, who ended up relegated from the Bundesliga again. But despite the poor aggregate results, Rodrigo completed the championship with important personal points. With six passes on goal in just 1326 minutes on the field, Zalazar ranked 9th in average in the tournament among all players who played at least 15 matches, with an average of 2.44 per 90 minutes on the field. A large part of this positive offensive volume is due to another virtue of the player: hitting. The Uruguayan had the third highest number of successful crosses in the tournament, averaging 2.65 passes per full game – 90 minutes – while using 33.9% of the space.
